

Day 1 – Arrival in Brazzaville
- Arrival at Maya-Maya International Airport
- Meet local operator representative
- Transfer to riverfront hotel
- Evening walk along the Congo River corniche
- Trip briefing (gorilla trekking rules, safety, logistics)
Overnight: Brazzaville
Day 2 – Brazzaville → Odzala-Kokoua National Park
- Early morning charter flight (approx. 1.5–2 hours) to Odzala airstrip
- 4×4 transfer to forest eco-camp (Ngaga Camp or similar)
- Lunch & orientation
- Short introductory forest walk to learn tracking techniques
Landscape: Dense Congo Basin rainforest
Wildlife: Guenon monkeys, hornbills, forest buffalo signs
Day 3 – Gorilla Tracking (Primary Trek Day)
- Wake at dawn
- Assigned small group (max 4–6 people)
- Trek 1–4 hours depending on gorilla location
- Spend 1 hour with habituated western lowland gorillas
- Afternoon rest or optional forest bird walk
Important: Moderate physical effort, high humidity
Day 4 – Baï Wildlife & Forest Exploration
Transfer (vehicle/boat depending on camp system) to a camp overlooking a forest clearing (“baï”).
- Morning observation from raised platform
- Forest elephants often feed in mineral-rich clearings
- Buffalo, red river hogs, sitatunga antelope
- Afternoon guided forest walk
- Optional night walk for potto & bush babies
Photography note: Low-light conditions — fast lenses helpful
Day 5 – River & Swamp Exploration
- Guided kayaking through flooded forest channels
- Track primates and birds
- Walk along raised forest trails
- Learn about medicinal plants & Ba’Aka forest knowledge
This day feels very remote — minimal outside contact.
Day 6 – Second Gorilla or Forest Trek
Options depending on permits & group interest:
- Second gorilla trek (recommended if budget allows)
- Or long forest expedition hike
- Or full baï observation day for elephant activity
Evening: Campfire debrief with guides.
Day 7 – Return to Brazzaville
- Charter flight back
- Hot shower & comfortable hotel
- Relaxed riverfront dinner
Day 8 – Brazzaville → Pointe-Noire
- Morning domestic flight (~1 hr)
- Transfer by 4×4 toward Conkouati-Douli National Park (3–4 hrs rough road)
- Arrival at remote eco-lodge or conservation camp
Day 9 – Coastal Rainforest & Lagoons
- Morning boat safari through mangrove lagoons
- Possible sightings:
- Forest elephants
- Hippos
- Crocodiles
- Monkeys
- Afternoon forest walk
- Sunset on empty Atlantic beach
Day 10 – Beach & Turtle Monitoring (Seasonal)
- Guided patrol of remote beaches
- Turtle nesting possible (Oct–March peak)
- Birdwatching (kingfishers, fish eagles)
- Optional lagoon canoe trip
Day 11 – Deep Conkouati Exploration
- Explore inland savanna pockets
- Track forest buffalo
- Visit fishing villages (if accessible)
- Conservation briefing with park team
Day 12 – Return & Departure
- 4×4 transfer back to Pointe-Noire
- Domestic flight to Brazzaville (if international departure from there)
- International departure
